Today is National Ag Day so Mrs. Walker brought some friends to talk to us about how important agriculture is! We also got to go inside of the tractor. We are so thankful that we live in an agricultural community!
We celebrated Dr. Seuss and "Read Across America" Week! The children are learning that they are READERS too!
Mrs. Pinkerman and the kids made my birthday PERFECT! What a fabulous day!!
Hallie (and her Dad) brought in some of their piglets! It was so neat to pet them. Hallie has told us so much about them and it was nice to finally meet them! Thank you to the Hege Family! :)

It was awesome to be a part of the balloon release today! We pledged to always be kind, be respectful and treat others like we want to be treated! Also, we pledged to be drug-free! We have already had a couple of balloons returned--one was from KENTUCKY!! Another one came from a small town 54 miles from here!
We had our first PBIS celebration! It was a fall-themed outdoor party. The kids could choose to do as little or as much of the activities that they wanted. It was a beautiful day and so much fun!
Thank you so much to the RVFD for coming to visit us during Fire Prevention Week! They taught us all about fire safety and we got to explore their fire truck!
Mrs. Muzek brought her 1st grade class to visit for our first "Reading Buddies" session! They will coming every other Friday to read with us. The children just loved having the "big kids" come and visit. Thank you to Mrs. Muzek and her wonderful class!
Yesterday we got on an "airplane" and flew to "France" to learn about the ways they celebrate Christmas! We also made croissants with chocolate, learned French words and Christmas Carols, painted a French painting with the Eiffel Tower and ate "escargot" (gummy worms). Today we "flew" to "Sweden" in Mrs. Dobson's room. Tomorrow we will be going 'down under' and learning how Australians celebrate Christmas in Mr. Brown's room. This has been so much FUN!
We did the Mannequin Challenge today! The kids did so awesome! I was impressed!

We did a science experiment today! What happens when you add heat to crayons on a pumpkin? You get a beautiful and colorful pumpkin!
We wore orange and stood {united} together today against bullying. We will {not} bully, and we will not let anyone else be a bully, either. We choose {KINDNESS} and {COMPASSION}!
Our "Pete the Cat" poster was one of the winners for "Red Ribbon" week. The theme was "Y.O.L.O- you only live once." We chose Pete the Cat because he knows that it's "groovy to say no to drugs!" The kids did a great job!
Today we showed our love and support for our school nurse, Nurse Cathy and all wore {PINK}! The teachers and staff from RCPS and Van also walked together in support of our friend, Nurse Cathy. She is so strong and brave and is going to {beat} breast cancer!
We have been talking a lot about being kind to everyone we meet, and what to do if we see bullying. Today we made a chain and linked it together with all the classrooms. We are showing that RCPS is {united} together against bullying! Tomorrow we are all wearing orange.
The RVFD came to visit us today and talked about fire safety! It was so much fun! Thank you to RFVD for taking the time to come and talk to us, especially Brett Wilhite, Brad White, Lenny Larson and Sparky (the fire safety dog)!
We had an AWESOME time at Sassafrass Hill today! It was a beautiful day!
